Increase Your Energy Level so you can Keep Up With Your Kids
Do you ever feel if you don’t increase your energy level you can’t possibly keep up with your kids? Lack of energy is a very common problem, in fact it’s probably the most common complaint heard by doctors.Children have such an abundance of energy that it makes our own lack of energy seem even worse by contrast. There are many possible causes for lack of energy, so if you are experiencing a severe case of fatigue, you should see your doctor. Some simple lifestyle changes may result in noticeable improvement. This article lists ten ways to increase your energy level. 1) Aerobic exercise. If you’re feeling lethargic, probably the last thing you want to do is exercise. However this one change will likely bring about a dramatic increase in your energy level. A cardio workout improves circulation and helps the body get oxygen to the cells. There are many possibilities for aerobic exercise including bicycling, swimming and dancing. Many of these activities can easily include your children. The point is to raise your heart rate which will raise your metabolism and increase your energy level. 2) Non-aerobic exercise. Stretching and yoga are gentler ways to improve your cardiovascular condition. Besides improving your energy level, non-aerobic exercise will also lead to better posture and increased joint flexibility. 3) Meditation and deep breathing. The more oxygen that gets to the brain, the more energy we have. 4) Drink plenty of water. Dehydration slows you down. Make a conscious effort to stay hydrated. You will be surprised how much less sluggish you feel if you make this one change. 5) Get fresh air. Get outside for part of every day if possible. Lack of sunshine may lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder. Go to the park and play with your kids, grill food outside or go for long walks in the sun. 6) Avoid over-sleeping. If you’re sleeping more than 6-8 hours a night, you are sleeping too much. This is a habit, and the only way to break a habit is to choose to behave differently. A fifteen-minute power nap may make you feel just as refreshed as a longer nap. 7) Increase healthy foods. Make a conscious effort to increase fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates. Food is fuel, so the more you choose healthy things, the better you will feel. Limit foods loaded with sugar like soda and candy bars. These will give you a quick pick me up, then drop you flat. Limit alcohol and caffeine. 8) Experiment with supplements. We each have our own metabolism, so what works for one person may not work for another. Vitamin supplements aren’t likely to lead to a noticeable increase in your energy level except in the case of a very poor diet. Some herbs (such as ginseng) are said to produce energy. Women should take an iron supplement. 9) Start a project. If you are working on a project such as scrap booking or writing a book, the drive to see it done will increase your motivation and lead to feeling energized. If you don’t have a hobby, consider volunteer work. 10) Attitude is everything. Often what we believe comes to be. If we believe we can’t keep up with our kids or the other demands of our lives, we can’t. Practice positive thinking. These are just a few of the things that we can control that may result in improved energy and sense of well-being. Pretty soon your kids will have keeping up with you!
