They imagine having the freedom to work during the hours they want, in their pajamas, avoiding the morning commute. They see themselves pouring coffee on lazy mornings, not needing to report to a boss, cuddling with their children. Is this a dream you are having? Have you started taking the steps necessary to make it happen? If not, why not? Many people are full of reasons why having their own business can’t happen. Here are some of the most common excuses that stop people from pursuing their dream of starting a home business. I don’t have time. Guess what? No one else has time either. Time isn’t something you have, it’s something you find. And ultimately, whatever is most important in our lives is what we are giving our time to. Put another way, life is made up of choices. If you are not pursuing your dream, this is a choice you are making. I don’t have any money. The internet has opened a world of opportunity for people to get started with little or no money. If you decide you are going to start a home business, you will find a way to set aside a little money to make it happen. Keep in mind that time is money. If you are working on a shoestring budget, you may have to put in extra time at first, until you are able to come up with some money. I don’t have any experience. Did you know that most websites are started by people who don’t have any experience? Everyone starts somewhere, and nobody is born knowing all that they need to know to start a home business. Seek out successful people and do what they do. It’s that simple. Choose a mentor (or guru) and stay focused on what that person has to teach you. You will learn. The longest journey starts with a single step. There’s nothing out there but scams, and nobody really works from home. This is absolutely untrue. There are definitely a ton of scams out there, but if you stick with the winners, you will begin to be able to recognize a scam when you see one. Some of them are obvious. For example, if someone claims you can make $5,000 a week working only two hours, and that you’ll accomplish this in the next 24 hours, it’s a pretty safe bet it’s a scam. People really do work from home. More and more people each day are ending their excuses and finding a way to start a home business and leave the rat race.
