Why I Love Internet Marketing

I love internet marketing. Of all the work I’ve ever done in my life, I find it to be the most stimulating and enriching. In some ways, I think I am fascinated by the potential, much like people used to be fascinated and obsessed with the Rubik’s cube. In much the same way, I am obsessed with possibilities.

I used to work as a commercial loan operations manager for a fairly large bank in Massachusetts. I loved commercial loan customers. To me they were the epitome of people who were living the American Dream. They had chosen a path and were following it with all their hearts. Some had more passion than business sense, but it was that ability to live their dreams, the freedom to be their own bosses that intrigued me. With that fascination for the American Dream, this path is a natural fit.

Here are the top five reasons I love internet marketing.

1) You can get started on a shoestring budget. If you decided to start an offline business, you’d more than likely need several thousand dollars to invest. You’d need office furniture, an advertising budget, maybe even a staff. If you are a budding internet marketer, you need a computer and an internet connection to get started. Period.

2) You can get an amazing amount of help from experienced people at no cost. I have never been involved in any other venture where there were so many people with years of experience willing to lend a hand, expecting nothing in return. If you haven’t visited the Warrior Forum you’re missing out on an incredible amount of guidance from very experienced people. Likewise, if you build a site through Site Build It there is a ton of free help available from very successful SBI owners in the SBI forum.

3) You can see your name in print. As someone who has always had a love of writing, I have shed quite a bit of blood, sweat and tears to have a handful of pieces published in the offline world. Online, I can get articles published fairly easily in article directories and on my blog. What a thrill to do a Google search on your own name and find dozens or hundreds of matches. The internet allows my voice to count.

4) There’s always something to learn. In a typical 8-5 job, most people reach a point where they pretty much know their job. Sure there are continuing education classes in a lot of fields, but I have never experienced anything like the constantly changing world of internet marketing. This is a field in which there is no chance you’ll get bored.

5) The world is at your fingertips. If you set up a store in your neighborhood, how far will your clientele reach? Even the busiest metropolitan has a limit as to how many people a store can bring in. Online, you will draw customers from all over the globe. To me, knowing people from the other side of the world turned on their computer and found their way to me is beyond exciting.
