How to Succeed in Affiliate Marketing

How do you succeed in affiliate marketing? It is said that 20% of all affiliates produce 80% of the income. What separates the very successful affiliates from those who make little or nothing? Here are some techniques used by those who are very successful.

1. Cloaking affiliate links. Some people will actually avoid clicking on a link that is clearly an affiliate link. Others will copy just the first part of the URL, chopping off your affiliate link.

2. Article distribution. Writing articles expands your reputation as an expert in your niche, and will definitely help you succeed in affiliate marketing. When your articles are published and reprinted by other site owners or ezine publishers, you will benefit from back links from their site.

3. Focus on a niche market. The tighter your niche, the more focused your target market.

4. Use autoresponders. Autoresponders are important tools that allow you to send a timed series of messages to your subscribers. They make sure any interested visitors to your site receive an immediate response to any inquiry, whether or not you are available.

5. Collect email addresses and build your own mailing list. Offer free reports, e-courses or e-books as an incentive to sign up for your mailing list.

6. Use a wide variety of marketing tools. Advertise using pay-per-click and ezine advertising. Investigate less popular pay-per-click engines besides Yahoo and Google Adwords. 7. Make learning a priority. To succeed in affiliate marketing, you must be willing to be continually trained, as the rules of the game are constantly changing. It’s a good idea to follow one guru, instead of constantly changing directions.

8. Invest time and effort. If you want to succeed as an affiliate marketer, you have to realize this is not a get rich quick scheme. You will not make $100,000 working one hour a week. You must work hard, for as long as it takes. You must work through discouragement and persevere when it seems you aren’t making it.

9. Be a self-starter. There will be times when there is no one to push you but you. Find a way to get yourself going, even when you don’t feel like it. Motivational speaker Les Brown recommends that you find five things that empower you, that will keep you going when life knocks you down – and it will knock you down.

10. Believe in yourself. Ignore the people who say you won’t succeed in affiliate marketing. People can and do succeed in this business. Believe that you will be one of them. In the movie “The Edge”, the character Anthony Hopkins plays believes beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will survive when his plane crashes in the wilderness of Alaska. He believes he will kill a vicious grizzly bear, because he knows of another man that has accomplished it. “What one man can do, another can do,” he says with conviction. This applies to your desire to succeed in affiliate marketing. Others have done this. And what one man (or woman) can do, another can do. Why not you?
